The Artemis mission, slated for 2025, marks a significant milestone as it will be the first crewed lunar landing since Apollo 17 in December 1972 and the first mission to include a woman on the moon.
Michael Suffredini, the CEO of Axiom Space, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Prada on the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) space suit. He praised Prada’s technical expertise in raw materials, manufacturing techniques, and innovative design concepts. These qualities are expected to contribute advanced technologies crucial not only for ensuring the comfort of astronauts on the lunar surface but also for addressing human factors considerations that were lacking in earlier space suits.
Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group’s marketing director, emphasized that the project is still in its preliminary phase.
